West Hill Cemetery Sherman, Texas Jasper Howell 1844 - 1916 Sherman Daily Democrat May 29, 1916 JASPER HOWELL DEAD Passed Away at His Home in This City Sunday Night Jasper Howell, 70 years of age, died at his home in Sherman about 8:30 o'clock Sunday night. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Janie Howell and the following children: Mrs. E.B. Fogle and F.P. Howell of Sherman, L.H. Howell of Whitewright, E.D. Howell of Sadler, Mrs. W.J. Looney of Whitewright. Funeral services were held at the residence, No. 519 South Hazlewood street, this afternoon at 3 o'clock, and interment was in West Hill cemetery. Rev. E.A. Maness, pastor of Key Memorial Methodist church, conducted the services. Sherman Daily Democrat Wednesday Feb. 10, 1932 Mrs. Elizabeth J. Howell, 79 years old, for 63 years an active member of the Methodist church, died Tuesday at 11 p.m. at her home at 519 South Hazelwood street. Rev. E.H. Crandall, pastor of the Key Memorial United Methodist church conducted funeral services from the church Wednesday at 4 p.m. Burial was in West Hill cemetery under the direction of the Talley funeral home. Pallbearers were C.A. Gibson, Harry Barrett, Hub Barret, Harry Belden, W.J. Tidwell of Anna and George Tree of Blue Ridge. Surviving Mrs. Howell are two daughters. Mrs. W.J. Looney of Sherman and Mrs. E.D. Eagle of Slayton; 3 sons, Frank P. Howell and S.H. Howell of Sherman and E.D. Howell of Memphis, Tenneessee; 20 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; one brother, John Thompson of Tom Bean; and a half-brother, Will Ely of Illinois. Mrs. Howell bad been ill since last Friday. Burial was by the side of her husband, the late Jasper Howell, a Confederate soldier who died 16 years ago. The Howells were married in Albion, Illinois, October 17, 1867, coming to Grayson County 55 years ago and to Sherman at her present home 31 years ago. Mrs. Howell since coming to Sherman had been affiliated with Key Memorial United Methodist church.
