Services
for F.M. Pinkston, 84, were held Tuesday afternoon at Waldo Funeral
Chapel. He was a former employe of Love Monument Works Co.
He died at his home Tuesday, 1422 S. Elm St. Rev. C.J.
Graves of Sherman and Rev. James Simpson, pastor of Key Memorial
Methodist Church conducted the services. Burial was in West Hill
Cemetery; grandsons were pallbearers. Mr. Pinkston was born March 31, 1874 in Webster County, Kentucky son of Mr. and Mrs. A.H. Pinkston. He married Mary Lettie Palmer in Tom Bean, Texas. He came to Grayson County in 1892 and moved to Sherman in 1926. He had been a farmer. He was a member of the Methodist church. Survivors are his wife; 4 sons, Claude Pinkston of New Orleans, Louisiana; Floyd Pinkston of Denton; Lewis Pinkston of Sherman; and Horace Pinkston of Whitesboro; 4 daughters, Alma McMakin, Jean Clark and Elsie Pierce, all of Sherman; and Irene Little of Denison; 20 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; a niece and a nephew. Funeral services for Mrs. F.M. Pinkston were held Wednesday afternoon in Waldo Funeral Chapel. Rev. C.J. Graves, pastor of Friendship Methodist Church and Rev. James Koontz, pastor of Key Memorial Methodist Church, conducted the services. Grandsons served as pallbearers. Burial was in West Hill Cemetery, directed by Waldo Funeral Home. Mrs. Pinkston was born May 23, 1875 in Russell County, Virginia, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A.W. Palmer. The former Mary Lettie Palmer, she married F.M. Pinkston March 22, 1894 in Tom Bean, Texas. She had lived in Sherman since 1925. She was a member of Cedar Methodist Church. Survivors include 3 sons, Claude and Lewis Pinkston of Sherman; and Horace Pinkston of Whitesboro; 4 daughters, Alma McMakin, Jean Clark and Elsie Pierce, all of Sherman; and Irene Little of Denison; a sister, Mrs. Carrie Monroe of La Junta, Colorado; 19 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. Her son, Floyd Pinkston, died 3 months ago. Floyd Ray Pinkston, 61, of Sherman native and manager of the General Telephone Co. office in Garland, Texas, died at 2 p.m. Tuesday following a heart attack suffered while working in Wylie, Texas. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon in the Creel-Spurlock Funeral Chapel. Graveside services were held Saturday evening at West Hill Cemetery in Sherman, Texas. Waldo Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Pinkston was born December 25, 1901, son of Mr. and Mrs. F.M. Pinkston and was married to the former Dora Mae Wright. He attended Sherman schools and served in the Navy during World War I. Survivors in addition to his wife and mother include a daughter, Mrs. Wanda Self of Denton, Texas; 3 sons, Jack Pinkston of Lewisville; Jerry Pinkston, stationed with the Air Force in Ft. Worth; and Gene Pinkston of Garland; 3 brothers, Claude and Lewis Pinkston of Sherman; and Horace Pinkston of Whitesboro; 4 sisters, Alma McMakin, Jean Clark, and Elsie Pierce, all of Sherman; and Irene Little of Denison; and 5 grandchildren. Dora Mae Pinkston, 92, of Denton, Texas passed away Wednesday, September 17, 1997 at Denton Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. She was born April 12, 1905 in Sherman, Texas, daughter of Joshua A. and Samantha Jane Spencer Wright. She married Floyd R. Pinkston June 28, 1928, in Denton. She was a member of the Baptist Church and a homemaker. Services were held at the graveside Saturday afternoon, September 20, 1997 at West Hill Cemetery in Sherman with Rev. Buddy Owen officiating. She is survived by 2 sons, Jack R. Pinkston of San Antonio, Texas; and Floyd Gerald Pinkston of Abilene, Texas; a daughter, Wanda Self of Denton; 2 sisters, Agnes Downey and Gladys Forman of Ft. Worth; 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Her son, Gene Pinkston; 2 grandsons and one daughter are deceased. Mulkey-Mason, Jack Schults and Son Funeral Home were in charge of arrangements. formerly of Sherman, who died at 3:15 p.m. Sunday in Lisbon Veterans
Hospital, Dallas, of leukemia. He was dischrged from the Army in
May. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in Creel-Spurlock Funeral Chapel, Garland, with Rev. Bill Hindman, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, Kemp. Texas,, conducting the services. Mr. Pinkston was born January 8, 1940 in Denton, Texas, son of Mrs. Floyd Pinkston and the late Mr. Floyd Pinkston, who died a week ago. Survivors besides his mother are his wife, Barbara Pinkston; and son, Gene Kevin of Garland; 2 brothers, J.R. Pinkston of Lewisville, Texas; and Gerald Pinkston of Ft. Worth, Texas; a sister, Wanda Self of Denton, Texas; his grandmother, Mrs. F.M. Pinkston of Sherman, Texas; and a number of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
