IN MEMORIAM
At a meeting of the Whitesboro Lodge, No. 263, A.F. & A.M., called for the purpose of attending the funeral obsequies of Brother Wm. McClain, the following Preamble and Resolution were adopted:
Death has again invaded our ranks and taken from us a Master Workman and again we meet wearing the emblems of sorrow.
Brother Wm. McClain is dead - dead to the cares that infest the fitful days of earth - dead to the endless turmoil and strife of this existence - dead to the pains and pangs of mortality; but ever alive and dear to the memory of his friends - alive to the eternal sunlight that gladdens the abode of the blest - alive to the joys immortal set apart for those who have "gone over the river" and rest in the shade of their Redeemer's presence.
Resolved, That we bow submissively to the will of our Master, who has called a brother from our circle.  Weeping not as those having no hope, but rather rejoicing that a craftsman has been summoned to receive his wages in that "temple not made with hands, eternal in the heavens."
Resolved, That in death of a beloved Past Junior Warden, a beautiful column has been broken -  masonry suffers and his brothers mourn.  As a brother, citizen, friend, or Christian none have left a purer record for the contemplation to those who come after, or rejoiced in a more glorious hope for the contemplation of those who come after, or rejoiced in a more glorious hope for the consolation of those who mourn.  The aged mother, the light of whose declining days has been called to shine in another sphere, we would remind that in perhaps as dark an hour as this "Our Father" has been her friend - his promises continue to the end.  Brothers, Sisters, a greater than Solomon, yea the King of Heaven has said: "Thy brother shall  rise again."
Resolved, That we the Lodge be draped in mourning and the brethren wear the usual badge of sorrow for thirty days.
Resolved, That a page in our minutes be dedicated to the memory of our deceased brother, a copy of these resolutions, under the seal of the Lodge, be furnished the family of the brother, and copies sent to the Sherman Courier, Sherman Register, Denison News, and Gainesville Gazette, for publication.
Respectfully,
W.W. Graves
J.A. Landis
C.B. Clark,
Committee
{L.S.}  A true copy from the Records of Whitesboro Lodge, No. 263.  In witness whereof the Seal of the Lodge is attached.
S.P. Allen, Secretary.
