Atkins, painful body bruises ESTIMATE OF DAMAGES Mrs. Atkins house and household effects total loss, about $2500. The Galveston Daily News Monday, June 1, 1896 pg. 2 Fifty-Ninth Death at Sherman Sherman, Tex., May 31 - Mrs. N.E. Atkins died today of lock jaw, superinduced by injuried received in the tornado. Her residence, 1102 West Center, was totally destroyed. Her death makes the number of fatalities in the city 59, and the total number of deaths in the cyclone's path in this county 66.
