Wednesday, October 4, 1922 pg. 6 Funeral services for Otis Fitch, whose death occurred Monday evening after a short illness were held Wednesday morning from the late home, 219 W. Cherry Street. Rev. George F. Cuthrell, pastor of Central Christian Church, of which Mr. Fitch had long been a member, conducted the religious services at the home and at West Hill Cemetery, where interment was made. Dr. T.A. Wharton, pastor of First Presbyterian Church assisted. The following acted as pall bearers: Harry Wood, Reeves Gibbs, John Stowe, George Rigby, Blaine Brown, Ernest Clark and C.A. Turner. Mr. Fitch was money order clerk at the Sherman post office at the time of his death, and had been connected with the Sherman post office for the past 12 years. His death was a source of much sorrow to friends throughout Sherman. Albert
C. Fitch was born in Sherman, the son of W.D. Fitch and Mary E. Cargo.
He died at a local Sherman hospital after a brief illness.
At the time of his passing, Mr. Fitch was believed to have been
the oldest living Sherman native. He was married in Sherman to Miss Ida Lea Johnson in May 1881, who survives him. He was employed by the Texas and Pacific Railroad as a stationary engineer for 50 years, retiring in 1931. Mr. Fitch was a member of the Central Christian Church and the Woodmen of the World. He is survived by his wife, three daughters, Mrs. Fred Hannah of Sherman, Mrs. Jim Adkisson of Greenville, and Mrs. Roscoe Brinson of Brentwood, Maryland. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at Dannel-Scott Funeral Chapel, Dr. Homer A.
