 West Hill Cemetery Sherman, Texas   Edward B. Slayton 24 December 1843 - 24 December 1922 Private Co. C 3rd Battalion Georgia State Guard Confederate States Army Sherman Daily Democrat Tuesday, December 26, 1922 pg. 4 Edward Slayton, a citizen of Sherman for 32 years, died at his home, 706 South Rusk street, Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Mr. Slayton was 75 years of age, death occurring on his birth anniversary. Mr. Slayton was a native of Georgia. He had followed the occupation of carpenter during his residence here. Funeral services took place from the residence Monday morning at 11 o'clock. Dr. T.L. Holcomb conducted the services. Burial was in West Hill Cemetery. Surviving Mr. Slayton are his wife; a son, W.G. Slayton, of Dallas; and a daughter, Mrs. M.J. Twyford, of Ardmore, Oklahoma.
