Sherman- Funeral services for Joyce Lee Jackson will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, April 5 at Waldo Funeral Home. Rev. Albert Fisher of the Key Memorial United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will follow at West Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Jackson, 89, passed away Friday, April 1 at the James West Hospice House in Fort Worth.

Joyce was born January 14, 1922 in Birmingham, Alabama to the late E.L. and Virginia (Smith) Winstead. She moved to Sherman as an infant and graduated from Sherman schools in 1942. On December 5, 1942 Joyce and James Jackson were married in Meridian, Mississippi. They were married over 46 years when Mr. Jackson passed away on April 10, 1989. Joyce worked as the cafeteria administrator at Washington Elementary and had been with the Sherman school district over 35 years when she retired in 1991. Mrs. Jackson was a lifetime member of Key Memorial UMC and of the Eastern Star, which she had served as a Worthy Matron. Joyce was a loving mother and grandmother and a caregiver to many of her family and friends. She was an excellent cook and created unique decorative cakes for many special occasions.
Mrs. Jackson is survived by her daughter, Joyce L. Smith of Arlington; son, James Jackson and his wife Peggy of Sherman; daughter, Janet Smith and husband David of Lago Vista, TX; eight grandchildren, Tim Smith, Erik Smith, Vicky Hale, Kelly Simmons, Amy Jackson, Robert Jackson, Jennifer Smith, and Rebecca Attaway; and twelve great grandchildren, Brendan Smith, Jennifer Smith, Kate Hale, Sarah Hale, Grace Hale, Braden Smith, Parker Smith, Isaac Attaway, Claire Attaway, Casey Jackson, Michael Simmons, and James Isaac Jackson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Edgar H. Winstead; and sister, Virginia Brown.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 PM Monday at Waldo Funeral Home.  Memorials may be made to the Key Care Mission at 901 E. Houston, Sherman, TX 75090.
