Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Memorial Park East Mausoleum Chapel with the Rev. Robert Field officiating. Entombment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Griggs-Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors Pioneer Chapel, 5400 S. Bell St. Buck was born June 7, 1914, in Floyd County to R.F. and Rilla Hall. He was the sixth of seven children. Buck married Cynthia Vivian Hall and in 1934, fleeing the Dust Bowl, they moved to Los Angeles. Buck found work in an airplane manufacturing plant and quickly worked his way up to foreman. He was transferred to Grand Prairie in the late 1940s, where he worked for Temco Aviation. He continued to work his way up through the company and was promoted to vice president and plant manager in Greenville. Buck took another plant manager position with Fairchild Hiller and the family relocated to St. Augustine, Fla., in 1955. He worked for Fairchild Hiller until 1969 when the family returned to Texas, this time to Amarillo. Buck finished his professional career working for Bell Helicopter, where he held the position of vice president and production manager. Before retiring, Bell Helicopter sent Buck to Tehran, Iran, where he helped establish an overhaul facility. After retirement in 1976, Buck started another career and returned to his first love, farming. He farmed and ranched near Hereford until his second retirement. He was a member of Paramount Baptist Church in Amarillo and was active in the Masons. His great joy in life was working. He loved his job, and also loved working on his farm in Hereford. His children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the treasures in his world. He was loved, and will be greatly missed. Survivors include three daughters, Nancy Singletary and Martha Stafford, both of Amarillo, and Mary Alvarez and husband Phil of Rocky Face, Ga.; a son, Nelson Hall and wife Annette of Sherman; seven grandchildren; and six grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Texas Masonic Lodge. West Hill Cemetery Susan Hawkins © 2024 If you find any of Grayson County TXGenWeb links inoperable, please send me a message. |
