J. RUSSELL GURLEY, CITY ELECTRIAL INSPECTOR, DIESJames Russell Gurley, 55, electral insepector for the city of Sherman,
died Thursday night in a Sherman hospital after a sudden illness. His home
was at 1106 Grant Dr.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Renfro-Barrett
Chapel, conducted by C. A. Montgomery of Madill, Oklahoma and Rev. R. M.
Williams, pastor of the East Sherman Baptist Church. Burial will be in
West Hill Cemetery under the directions of Renfro-Barrett Funeral Home.
Mr. Gurley had been employed by the city of Sherman for 33 years.
He was a member of the Baptist Church. He attended public schools in Howe
and had been a resident of this area all of his life. He was born March
1, 1913, in Gunter, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. James S. Gurley. He
was married September 5, 1936 in Durant, Oklahoma to Miss Nellie K. McGill.
He is survived by his wife; two brothers, Chester Gurley of Los
Angeles, California and Lloyd Gurley of Wichita Falls; two sisters, Mrs.
Johnny Holmes of Sherman and Mrs. Bill Hammett of Orange.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Burleson, Les Tribble, Jack Spears, Robert
Cordell, L. D. Gudgel and Karl Kyle.
The family will be at the residence, 1106 Grant Dr.
