West Hill Cemetery Sherman, Texas Mrs. Alma M. Epting 1879 - 1960 Rev. Walter J. Epting 1876 - 1966 Rev. Walter Jacob Epting, 90, was a pioneer Baptist minister of Grayson County and North Texas. Rev. Walter Epting had his first pastorate at Ripley, Mississippi from 1906 - 1911. He moved to Whitewright, Texas in 1911. He later served as pastor of churches at Madill, Oklahoma and Whitewboro before moving to Celina, where he was pastor for 18 years. He had conducted services in 41 of the 42 Baptist churches in Grayson County before retiring in 1961. Epting Memorial Baptist Church in Denison is named in his honor. He was a member of the Grayson County Baptist Association and was a Mason. Survived by one son - Roy Epting; one sister - Mrs. Willie McGee Services were held at the First Baptist Church. Dove R.
