The Herald Democrat October 7, 2011 Sherman - Funeral services for Velma Lee Henderson were held Saturday, October 8 at Waldo Funeral Home; burial followed in West HilL Cemetery. Mrs. Henderson, 88, passed away Thursday, October 6, 2011 at the Homestead of Sherman. Velma was born October 18, 1922 in Sherman, daughter of James Arnold and Mollie Whittington. She attended Sherman school and married Elba Henderson on September 2, 1952 in Sherman. Mrs. Henderson worked for Pool Manufacturing and later as a nurse's aide at several nursing homes in Sherman. She was a longtime member of Fairview Baptist Church. Mrs. Henderson is survived by two daughters, Sherron Donahue and Ruth Henderson, both of Sherman; three grandchildren, Billy Henderson, Lauri Henderson-Hayes and her husband, Mike, and LeeAnn Bearden, all of Sherman; one great-grandchild, Zachary Bearden of Sherman; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, eight siblings and one granddaughter.
