The Sherman Daily Democrat Monday, June 26, 1911 pg.4 FUNERAL OF J.L. RANDOLPH The boyd of Capt. J.L. Randolph arrived at the union station Saturday afternoon at 3:45 o'clock and was met at the depot by a large number of relatives and friends. It was taken immediately to the Travis Street Methodist Church where funeral services were conducted by Rev. J.M. Binkley and Rev. J.L. Morris....He was a loyal citizen, always ready to do what he considered his duty. He went to the war in time of civil strife and gave his services in behalf of the south, to which cause he was ever true. After the war he resumed his residence here...After the body was taken to West Hill Cemetery, where after the ritualistic services of the Methodist church, it was laid to rest. The long cortege, the magnificent floral offerings and the many messages of condolence testified to the high esteem in which Capt. Randolph was held. Among out-of-town people that attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. W.M. Freeman, M.J. Freeman and Judge Henry King of Dallas; C.B. Bryant and W.H. King of Whitewright; F.J. Phillips of Greenville; Capt. M.B. Loyd of Ft. Worth; Mr. and Mrs. W.B. Munson and Mr. and Mrs. W.G. Meginnis of Denison; Mr. and Mrs. Roy Potter of Gainesville; J.M. Buchanan of Whitesboro; Alex Brown and Dr. R.F. Miner of St. Louis; Mr. and Mrs. Allison Mayfield and Judge T.J. Brown from Austin; J.H. Kirby, J.M. Rockwell, Col. Ike Standifer and J.S. Rice of Houston. The Bonham Daily Favorite August 28, 1917 Mrs. Tom Randolph Dies at Atlantic City, N.J. Sherman, Tex., Aug. 26 - Word was received today of the death of Mrs. Tom Randolph of St. Louis, which occurred at Atlantic City, New Jersey, this morning at 9 o'clock. Mrs. Randolph was 46 years of age. She is survived by her husband, who is president of the National Bank of Commerce of St. Louis, and three children, Mrs. Harry Potter of St. Louis, Tom Randolph, Jr. of Houston, and Miss Etta Randolph of St. Louis. Mrs. Randolph was the daughter of the late Rev. J.M. Binkley of Sherman and is survived by the following sisters and brothers: Mrs. T.U. Cole of Sherman; Mrs. Pate Harris of Houston; Mrs. F.C. Riddle of Rockwall; Mrs. George Hubbard of Mineral Wells; Marvin Binkley of Sherman; James Binkley of Chicago; C. Binkley of Sherman; Miss Lottie Binkley of Sherman; and Miss Reba Binkley of Sherman. The body wil be shipped to Sherman for burial and is expected to arrive Tuesday morning. Mrs. Randolph's death followed a surgical operation. Whitewright Sun Januaty 11, 1918 TOM RANDOLPH DIES AT HOME IN ST. LOUIS St. Louis, Mo. , Jan 7 - Tom Randolph, chairman of the board of directors of the National Bank of Commerce of St. Louis, died at his home here today of apoplexy. He was director of the Equitable Life Insurance Society of the St. Louis Southwestern Railroad and for several years was a member of executive committee of the American Bankers' Association. Mr. Randolph was born in Rome, Tenn., and began his career as a bank employee in Sherman. In 1872 he became bank cashier, and in 1886 he was he was made president of the Merchants and Planters National Bank of Sherman, Texas. In 1903 he was made president of the Commonwealth Trust Comapny of St. Louis, and when the banking business of the trust company was taken over by the National Bank of Commerce, he became vice-president of the latter institution. In 1913 he was elected president of the bank and later was elected chairman of the board of directors. The body arrived in Sherman Wednesday morning, and following funeral services at the Travis Street Methodist church, was laid to rest at West Hill Cemetery in that city. The pallbearers were T.D. Joiner, Judge H.O. Head, C.B. Bryant, Hayden W. Head, P.R. Markham, N.B. Birge, D.S. Thompson, C.C. Rountree and C.B. Dorchester.
