Leonard Howard Hale, 87 of Sherman passed away on April 1, 2011 at Texoma Healthcare in Sherman. Dannel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Funeral services will be held 10:00am Monday, April 4th at Dannel Funeral Home with Billy Snedden of Dayspring Christian Fellowship and Bob Sholl of Pottsboro Church of Christ officiating. Mrs. Donnieta Morriss of Sherman will be ministering in music. Interment will follow in West Hill Cemetery, with military honors accorded at gravesite. Pallbearers will be Harold Falk, Harold Falk Jr., Bryan Daniel, Ben Daniel, and Larry Morriss. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Sholl, Alton Castleberry, Jack Nash, Jim Nash, Harold Stroud and John Elkins. The family will be at Dannel Funeral Home on Sunday April 3rd from 2 to 4pm.

Leonard was born in Bells, Texas on September 24, 1923 to Myrtle (Washburn) and James Robert Hale. He was a graduate of Sherman High School and a proud member of the Ex-Students Association. Leonard proudly served in the US Army during WWII, rising to the rank of Staff Sergeant. He married Wanda Crowder of Sherman on May 17, 1951; they were married for 59 years. He worked as a machine operator for Mrs. Tucker's/ Anderson Clayton for 40 years. He had been a long time member of East Sherman Baptist Church prior to attending Dayspring Christian Fellowship. Leonard enjoyed hunting, fishing, and water skiing, as well as the company of his pets Shotcie and Votcie.
Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Inez Pascall, and a brother Leon Hale. He is survived by his wife Wanda and family members Lee and Max Crowder of Rowlett, Pat and Harold Falk of Denison, Robbie Batchelor of Sherman, Wynona and Steve Howell of Oklahoma City, as well as a multitude of friends.
Memorials may be made to the Sherman Ex-Students Association.
