- Robert M. "Rob" Sims, 72, of Sherman, died Wednesday, November 26,
2008 at Wilson N. Jones Medical Center. Memorial services were
held Saturday afternoon, December 6, 2008 in Waldo Funeral Home
chapel with Rev. Paul Ryan officiating. Cremation arrangements
were under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home.
Robert was born February 8, 1936 in Sherman, son of John Milton Sims and Daisy Mae Farris [sic] Sims. He attended schools in Sherman and Southmayd and served in the U.S. Navy from January 1956 until his honorable discharge in October 1957. He was employed for several years as an X-ray technician for Peerless Manufacturing in Dallas and later retired from Kraft Foods in Sherman. March 1-2, 2009 John Phares Sims, 82, of Sherman, passed away on February 28, 2009 at the Denison Manor Nursing Home. Graveside services were held Monday afternoon, March 2, 2009 at t he West Hill Cemetery, Sherman. Jason Anderson officiated and services were under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home. John was born on February 20, 1927 in Sherman, the oldest son of John Milton and Daisy Phares Sims. He served in the U.S. Army a nd served in World War II. He is survived by his sisters, Billie Marion Stowe, Patsy Jean Smith, Frances Belanger, Maudellen maimone, Joy Don Brown, Lyndall Tuthill and Sammy Kaye Decker; brothers, Frank Alvin Sims, Jerry Lynn Sims, Charles Dudley Sims, Jimmy Lee Sims and Sidney Sherman Sims. He is also survived by numerous nieces a nd nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Robert Milton Sims and Lionel Sims and one sister, Glenna Collett Hanan.
