West Hill Cemetery Sherman, Texas Wallace Weldon Walker 1929 - 2015 Wallace Weldon Walker "W.W." passed from this world into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior on Sunday Morning January 5, 2015 at his home, at the age of 85 years and 8 months. Weldon was born in Bonham, Texas, on May 10, 1929 to W.H. Walker and Purtle Lee Rogers Walker. Never a man lived who was any more patriotic and loved this great Nation than he did. He served in the United States Army during the Korean conflict, was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, and Travis Street Masonic Lodge. He was a past member on the Board of Directors at American Red Cross. Past President of Sherman Youth Baseball, coaching all 3 sons in baseball over the years. He was along with H.K. Lyde, instrumental in establishing Veteran's Field at Fairview Park in Sherman. Weldon was employed with the city of Sherman 31 years, working as a fireman. He began his career as a firefighter in 1959, climbing through the ranks as shift Captain, Lieutenant and retired in 1990 as Fire Marshall. Mr. Walker was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Harlan, Rogers, and Forest; and sister Harlene; father and mother-in-law, Clarence and Clara Eudy; and a very special granddaughter De'Shae Walker. He is survived by his wife, Dorla; daughter, Glenda and Danny Pettit of Euless; Duke Walker and Carol Goebel of Pottsboro; Mike Walker of Beaumont; and Barry and Naomi Walker of Sherman. Grandchildren: Jason Pettit and Susan Flyzik; Jeff/Savannah Pettit; Jon/Traci Pettit; Lee/Dana Condron; Kinsey Walker; Jennifer O'Toole; Matthew Bailey; Melanie Bailey; Trey/Katie Walker; Ashley Aaron; Kasie Walker; Taylor Roath and Hannah Richroath. Great-grandchildren: Samuel, Jude, Oliver Pettit; Levi, Bliss and Elliot Grace Pettit; Gunner Pettit; Madison, Chloe, and Jack Walker Condron; Dylan and Kylee O'Toole; Cohen, Lila, and Grayson Walker; and Alana Elizabeth Lowry. Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at the Waldo Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed at West Hill Cemetery. Dorla Dean Eudy was born October 3, 1930 in Childress, Texas, daughter of Leonard and Clara Darter Eudy. She went home to Jesus on October 1, 2022 just 2 days shy of her 92nd birthday. She passed peacefully in her daughter's home surrounded by family. After graduating from Sunset High School in Dallas in 1949, she took a job at Southwestern Bell. On May 1, 1951, Dorla married Wallace Weldon Walker from Sherman, Texas. They had 4 children together, eventually settling in Sherman where she worked as a bank teller and then in the accounting department at Johnson & Johnson, where she retired after 25 years. Throughout her life, Dorla showed her love of others through acts of service. She was very active in church and spent her free time fellowshipping with and taking care of others through various organizations including the Gamma Zeta Chapter of the Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority, the American Legion Auxiliary, Red Hat Society, Meals on Wheels, and the Grayson County Republican Party. She loved traditional hymns, crafts, yardwork, and playing cards with her dear friends. She was a woman of integrity and unwavering faith in Jesus Christ, loyal to her friends and family, and a pillar of strength in difficult times. Dorla is survived by her children, Glenda Pettit and husband, Danny, of Euless, Texas; Duke Walker and wife, Carol, of Pottsboro, Texas; Mike Walker of Beaumont, Texas; and Barry Walker and wife, Naomi, of Sherman, Texas. Also surviving are grandchildren, Jason, Jeff and Jon Pettit; Dana Walker; Kinsey Leyva; Jennifer O'Toole; Matthew Bailey; Melanie Cantu; Trey Walker; Ashley Aaron; Kasie Babb; Taylor Roath; and Hanna Richroath; great-grandchildren: Samuel, Jude, Oliver and (coming soon) Baby Girl Pettit; Levi, Bliss Elliot and Wyatt Pettit; Gunner and Lily Pettit; Madison, Chloe, and Jack Condron; Dylan and Kylee O'Toole; Max and Carmen Bailey; Mordecai Cantu; Oliver and Nixon Stout; Cohen, Grayson, and Lila Walker; Anthony, Savannah, Sierra, Jackson and Brooks Babb; and Alana Lowery; and Alarik, Atalie and Addix Ariano; great-great-grandchildren: Dalice and Kollyn O'Tolle. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Barbara Plyler Getsee; brothers, C.L. and J.C. Eudy; and granddaughter, De'Shae Walker. At a private graveside service officiated by son-in-law, Danny Pettit, family and friends said goodbye and celebrated her birthday on Monday, October 3, 2022 at West Hill Cemetery in Sherman, Texas, where she was laid to rest next to her beloved husband. Arrangements were made by Waldo Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.
