Knight 7 April 1924 - 29 November 2011 The Herald Democrat November 30, 2011 Curtis Erwin Knight, 87, departed this life Tuesday, November 29, 2011, at his home in Sherman after an extended illness. He leaves behind his devoted caretaker, Barbara Bishop, of Sherman; son, Greg Knight of Sherman; brother, Walter Knight of Denison; sisters, Madeline Knight of Borger; Marjorie Corbett of Denison; and Ruth Corzine of Sherman. He also leaves behind grandchildren: Ben Gleaves of Anna; Kayren Adams and Halley Knight of Sherman; great-grandchildren: caregivers, Colleen Carrol and Geoff Bucher, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, John C. and Anna Mae Knight; previous wives, Fannie Still Knight and Mary Christian Knight; daughter Kayren Williams; and brother, Hubert Knight. Mr. Knight was born in Ector, Texas on April 7, 1924. He served as a U.S. Navy gunner's mate in the South Pacific during World War II, and participated in several major campaigns and the occupation of Japan. After the war, he worked for Lewis and Lavender Co. as a sales representative for 40 years, eventually becoming a partner in the business. He was a Freemason and member of Travis Lodge 117 AF & AM. Graveside services were held Thursday, December 1 at West Hill Cemetery, Sherman; Jim Durham, officiating.
