At Peace With The Angels
The Funeral of Little Martha Bird Dorset Conducted at ShermanYesterday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at the family home in Sherman occurred the funeral of Martha Bird, the sweet little two and a half year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Moore Dorset, her death resulting from burns received about two weeks ago.
Martha Bird
was a bright and beautiful child and the idol of her parents, more
especially the grief stricken father, who seemed to have, for the time
being, forgotten almost everything else but the darling little
daughter. Her suffering were of the most intense nature, but since the
little soul has winged its flight to the God who gave it she is at
sweet peace with the angels and will abide the time with patience until
papa and mamma shall come to join her in the beautiful city of the New
Jerusalem when there is no pain, no sorrow.
One
of the most pathetic scenes connected with the sad incident was while
the little corpse lay in state, dressed in spotless white with the
casket bathed in a bank of lilies of the valley, her little sister,
only a few years older stepped to the side of the casket, plucked a
lily, placing it in the little Martha Bird’s
hand, then tenderly bending over the little lamb, kissed her a last
farewell, and turning to her papa, exclaimed “Papa, I kissed her last.”
The deeply grieved parents have the heartfelt sympathy of there many Bonham friends.
