December 11 & 12, 1939 pg 10, 11 JOE ABRAMS IS TAKEN BY DEATH Joseph C. Abrams, 42, young Sherman attorney died Sunday at 8 p.m. at a local hospital following an illness of three and one-half months. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Dannel-Scott funeral chapel. Interment will be in West Hill Cemetery. Mr. Abrams was born in Sherman Sept. 21, 1897, a son of Victor W. and Mildred Vestal Abrams. He attended Sherman public schools and was a graduate of the Cumberland law school at Lebanon, Tenn. Mr. Abrams was married to Miss Frances Jackson at Dallas May 17, 1933. Mr. Abrams was secretary of the Grayson county Bar association, recently being elected to serve a second term. He had been a practicing lawyer for eight years, of which the last four and a half years had been with the Webb and Webb firm. Mr. Abrams is survived by his widow, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Abrams of Sherman; one brother, Norman H. Abrams of Waco; and three sisters, Mrs. H. H. Shifflette of Monroe, La., and Miss Victor and Aileen Abrams of Sherman. Pallbearers will be Judge R. M. Carter, Oscar Alexander, J. P. Spangler, M. O. Belden, Sam Wolfe, Ollie Neathery, Spearman Webb, and Maurice Sanders. ABRAMS SERVICE Funeral services were to be conducted Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the Dannel-Scott chapel for Joseph C. Abrams, 42, Sherman attorney. Dr. Homer A. Strong, pastor of the Central Christian church, was to officiate. Interment was to follow in West Hill cemetery. Members of the Grayson County Bar association were to attend the funeral services in a body.
