Van Alstyne Leader November 4, 1937 Page 4 Funeral Held for Mrs. J. Edward Smith Funeral services for Mrs. J. Edward Smith, age 52, were held last Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Church of Christ in Sherman, Texas. Mrs. Smith was an active church worker and leader of the Spanish-American War Veterans' Auxiliary. She is survived by her husband; three daughters, Miss Valda Smith of Forth Worth and Misses Hesta and Katheryne Smith of Sherman, and her mother, Mrs. Margaret Hyder of Hale Center; two sisters and three brothers. Interment was held in the West Hill cemetery under the direction of Talley Funeral home. Mr. and Mrs. Smith formerly lived here where Mr. Smith was a barber for a number of years, later moving to Sherman, where they have made their home since. The Leader joins with the many friends here in expressing their heartfelt sympathy for the bereaved.
