Barker 20 May 1924 - 2 March 2004 Staff Sergeant US Army WWII  Sherman Herald Democrat Monday, 20 January 1997 Page A6 Louise Geneive BARKER VAN ALSTYNE - Services for Louise Geneive Barker, 87-year-old retired civil servant, who died Saturday, Jan. 18, 1997 at Meadowbrook Care Center in Van Alstyne will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, 1997 in the Dannel Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Tim Clayton of East Sherman Baptist Church will officiate and burial will follow at West Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Dannel Funeral Home. Miss Barker was born Nov. 15, 1909 in Sherman the daughter of Ancel Cleveland and Hannah Knechtel Barker. She attended Sherman schools and was employed at ABC Candy Company, Porterfield Candy Company and Poole Manufacturing Company. She was a foreman in the parachute division at Perrin Air Force Base before her retirement. She was the only female to achieve the rank of foreman at that time. Surviving are two brothers, Ralph Barker of Sherman and Floyd Barker of Dallas; nephews, Guy Tucker of Sherman, Bruce Goldston of San Antonio, John Goldston of Houston, Bobby Barker of Virginia, Steven Barker of California, and Joe Barker of Kingwood; nieces, Norma Godwin of Dallas and Gloria Ennis of Plano; several great nieces and great nephews. The family will be at the funeral home on Monday from 7 until 8 p.m. and other times at the Guy Tucker residence or the Ralph Barker residence. Pall bearers will be Bob Alexander, Joe Ward, Troy Knox, R.C. Coraine, Tom Hulsey, and Clyde Dement. If desired, memorials may be made to The Salvation Army, 5625 Texoma Parkway; Sherman, Texas 75090.
