DANIEL WOODARD GURLEY
Funeral services for Daniel Woodard Gurley, 88, who died at his home,
Route 1, Sherman, after an illness of ten days, were held Friday at 4 p.m.at
the Barrett Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Payne of Howe, conducted, assisted
by the Rev. C. J. Graves of Sherman.
Pallbearers were Earl Taylor, P.J. Waldrop, Price McCoy, Omer C.
Carbin, Virgil Fielder and Audie Wilson. Burial was in the Hall Cemetery.
Mr. Gurley was born in Union County, Illinois, June 11, 1860 the
son of John and Mary Gurley. He was married to Jane Fielder in 1879. She
died five years ago. He came to Grayson County in 1881. He was a member
of the Baptist Church.
Survivors include, one son, J. S. Gurley, of Sherman; two daughters,
Mrs. J. H. Cox, of Sherman, and Mrs. C. E. Wax of Gilliham, Arkansas; 19
grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
