Dallas Morning News October 6, 1942 Physician Passes at Pottsboro Denison, Texas, October 5 - Dr. N.J. Slaughter, physician at Pottsboro, 10 miles west of here, for the last 35 years, died suddenly at his home Sunday. Funeral services were held Tuesday at his home in Pottsboro and burial was in West Hill Cemetery at Sherman. He was born in Lone Oak, Arkansas. He married Miss Emma Kelly at Delight, Arkansas in 1900. He received his medical degree from Burns University, St. Louis, Missouri, and did post-graduate work at Tulane University, New Orleans, Louisiana. Surviving are his wife; 2 sons, Dr. Charles Slaughter of Sugarland and Dr. Ruel Slaughter of Goldthwaite; 3 brothers, Sam Slaughter, James Slaughter and Joe Slaughter, all of Arkansas; 2 sisters, Mrs. Zora Cole and Mrs. Cora Aubrey, both of Arkansas; and a granddaughter.
