DIES SUDDENLY OF HEART ATTACK Death came suddenly at 11 a.m. Thursday to S.L. Talley, funeral director in Sherman for 30 years and owner of the Talley Funeral home. Mr. Talley, 62 years old, was at home, 204 East Jones when he suffered a heart attack about 10 a.m. He arose Thursday in good spirits and conferred with some business men at his funeral home, next door to his residence. He returned home and immediately laid down to rest, telling his wife that he was feeling bad. He was taken to the hospital and placed under an oxygen tent but suffered another attack which was fatal. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Bessie Horton Talley, whom he married July 24, 1921; 3 brothers, W.W. Talley of Sherman, John Talley of DeQueen, Arkansas, and Jim A. Talley of Denison; one sister, Mrs. H.H. Trenton of Sherman, and a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. Talley was born May 9, 1878 in Marshall County, Tennessee, a son of J.H. and Susan Whiteacre Talley, natives of Tennessee. He came to Texas at the age of 9, his family settling in Denison. Finishing school at the age of 18, he entered railroad service as a brakeman. Later he entered the Pullman service and worked in that capacity 14 years. He began work here in 1910 with John C. Dannel and in 1928 established his own funeral home at 210 East Jones. His wife became associated with him in the home December 1, 1930. The deceased had been a member of the Central Christian Church for more than 30 years. Mr. Talley joined the Woodmen of the World in 1911 and had served as consul commander of the Sherman camp for many years, was chairman for the credentials committee of the head camp conventions of the state of Texas and sovereign delegate since 1915. He had also been a member of the legislative board of the state fraternal congress for years. He was one of the leaders in securing location of the Woodmen Circle home here. Funeral services were held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the Central Christian church, with Rev. Claud Johnston, pastor of the North Park Baptist church, Rev. C. Chumbley of Howe, and Rev. Robert L.
