The Whitewright Sun Thursday, January 7, 1926 pg.2 KOTE KILLS SELF IN SECOND ATTEMPT Five months ago, Frank Kote, 72 tried to kill himself in an undertaking parlor in Dallas and Saturday a second attempt, at Sherman, proved successfull. Kote, pioneer Sherman business man, had retired and moved to Dallas 2 months ago. Returning to Sherman Friday midnight, he rang the night bell on the door of the undertaking establishment of John C. Dannel and S.L.Talley. A light flashed on and a shot was heard. Dannel hurried down, finding Kote's body in the yard, a pistol by his side. A bullet had passed through his head. A note was found on the body addressed to Dannel and Talley, asking that the body be cared for "quickly, quietly and with as little notoriety as possible." Kote moved to Sherman 50 years ago and was successful in business, acquiring considerable property in Grayson County. His wife died 4 years ago, and it is stated he had met with some financial reverses since that time. July 10, Kote walked into a Dallas undertaking establishment, selected a coffin and burial clothing and shot himself through the body. He soon recovered. Friends believed he had recovered from his despondency. He is survived by one son, Buster Kote, who lives in Dallas.
