Thursday, June 12, 1919 pg. 5 DR. J.F. JONES DIES FROM INJURIES Dr. James F. Jones, one of the best known and most highly regarded practicing physicians of Sherman, who sustained injuries in a grade crossing accident on East King street Monday afternoon, succumbed to his injuries at St. Vincent's Sanitarium about 5:30 o'clock this morning. The news of Dr. Jones' death was a distinct shock and source of great sorrow to a large number of Sherman people, although but little hope had been entertained for his recovery since Tuesday afternoon, when it was learned that both his left lung and heart were involved and his condition became apparently worse. At one time last night he was reported to be rallying, but not enough to cause hope of his recovery. Funeral services will probably take place tomorrow afternoon at 4 o'clock. Services will be held at Travis Street Methodist church, and will be in charge of Rev. J.L. Pierce of McKinney, assisted by Rev. J.F. Pierce and Rev. W.J. Miller of this city, the latter rector of St. Stephen's Episcopal church. Interment will be in West Hill Cemetery. Dr. Jones was 46 years of age, and was a native of Grayson county. He was born at Collinsville, November 12, 1873, son of Rev. and Mrs. William Jones and the youngest of 6 children. Three of the 6 children survive. They are Judge Ben L. Jones, Mrs. J.Q. Adamson and Mrs. Laura Pool, all of Sherman. In addition to his brother and sisters, Dr. Jones is survived by his wife, Mrs. Kate C. Jones, and an adopted 7-year-old daughter, Frances. The deceased graduated from the medical department of the State University with the class of 1899. The first 2 years following his graduation he spent in Mexico as assistant surgeon for the Mexican Central Railway, with headquarters at Cardenas. On August 18, 1902, he was married to Miss Kate C. Mitchell. Dr. Jones has been practicing his profession in Sherman for 18 years, having moved to this city in 1901. For a number of years he was city and county physician. He enjoyed a splendid practice, built up on his ability as a physician and his qualities as a man and friend. He was a faithful and loyal friend, and ever ready to respond to the call of those who needed his services. In the death of Dr. Jones, the community has lost not only an able physician, but an upright and honorable citizen - a loss that it could ill afford to sustain. The entire community joins in extending to the members of the bereaved family its sympathy in their hour of sorrow. The following pall bearers have been announced: Dr. T.W. Crowder, Dr. A.L.
