Sherman
- Funeral services for Mary Lee Reid were held Saturday afternoon,
May 1 at West Hill Cemetery. Rev. Albert Fisher of the Key
Memorial Methodist Church officiated with services under the
direction
of Waldo Funeral Home. Mary Lee passed away Thursday, April 29 at the
Homestead
of Sherman at the age of 74.
Mary Lee Reid was born June 7, 1935 in Sherman, Texas, daughter of
William and Mary Louise Autrey Reid. She graduated from Sherman High
in 1953 where she was voted Class Favorite by her classmates. Mary Lee
worked as a beauty instructor from 1954-1964 at the Sherman Beauty School
and served as the Vice President of the Texas Association of Beauty Institute.
From 1964 to 1968 she worked at the Sherman Foundry before becoming a beauty
operator at the Hallies Beauty Salon in Denison from 1968 to 1975. At that
time Mary Lee went to work as a switchboard operator at Wilson N. Jones
until retirement. Mary Lee was a longtime member of Key Memorial Methodist
Church where she taught Sunday School and worked as a youth counselor for
many years.
Ms. Reid is survived by one sister-in-law, Pauline Reid of Carthage,
Illinois; 2 nephews, Robert Reid and Kenneth Reid; one niece, Lisa; and several
great nieces and nephews.
