Funeral services for W. J. Mabry, 83, were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Church of Christ, conducted by Roy Waldrum. Burial was in West Hill Cemetery, Sherman, directed by Earnheart. Pallbearers were R. D. Maddux, J. A. Harper, W. A. Thurman, Henry Hymer, Riley Tabor and Lonnie Darwin. Mr. Mabry died Saturday at the home of his son, J. J. Mabry, Portsmouth, Va. Born April 21, 1872 at Celina, Tennessee, he was a son of T. J. and Mary A. Mabry. He was married to Miss Jannie K. Hamilton Dec. 25, 1894, at Celina, Tennessee, and they came to Texas in 1902. He had been a farmer, operator of a grocery store, and an insurance salesman. He lived in Whitewright from 1939 until 1954 when he went to Portsmouth to live with his son. Mrs. Mabry died September 24, 1949. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Surviving are one son, J. J. Mabry of Portsmouth, Va., and two grandson, William and Clarence Ellis of Dallas.
