14 March 1926 page 1 Farmer Killed, His Wife Held Special to the News - Sherman, Texas - March 13 - Charles Hefley, about 45 years old, Dorchester farmer, was shot and killed at his home, a quarter of a mile southwest of Dorchester. At 3 o'clock Saturday morning, Justice of the Peace J. N. Phillips rendered a verdict that Hefley came to his death by wounds from pistol bullets. Arrangements have been completed for holding Mrs. Anna Bette Hefley, his wife, under a $5,000 bond to await a preliminary hearing and her examining trail has been set for Saturday, March 20, in Justice J. N. Phillips Court. Hefley's body was brought to Sherman Saturday morning. The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock, conducted by the Rev. J. A. Seale. Mr. Hefley is survived by his wife, four daughters and one son, the youngest of whom is 10 years old, and his father George W. Hefley of Dorchester. The children are Dovie, Hazel, Mabel, Katie Mae and John.
Herald Democrat October 1, 2002 Sherman - Graveside services for Rita N. Nolen, 72, of Sherman who died Saturday, September 28, 2002 at Sherman HealthCare Center were held Wednesday, October 2 at West Hill Cemetery. Rita was born June 16, 1930 in Sherman, daughter of H.S. Nolen and Hazel Hefley. She graduated from Sherman High School and worked at Sherman Chamber of Commerce, Fant Milling, Hardwick-Etter ahd retired December 31, 1996 from Grayson County, where she worked in the auditor's office.
