DOUBLE SERVICE HELD FOR SHERMAN MAN, SON
Double services were held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Waldo Funeral Chapel for Mr. John D. McDonald, Sr., 96, of 925 W. Brockett and his son, John D. McDonald, Jr., 62, of 121 E. College St.
Services were conducted by Rev. Charles Glass, pastor of the First Pentacostal Church and Rev. Don Wood, pastor of the Fairview Baptist Church, under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home.
Mr. McDonald, Sr. was born November 30, 1872 at Georgetown, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. J.T. McDonald.  He had spent his entire life in Grayson county, most of which in Sherman.  He owned and operated the first motor-driven truck in Grayson County.  He was a member of the Church of Christ.  He died at 2:25 p.m. Thursday at a Sherman hospital after a long illness.  His son died at 5:55 a.m. Wednesday at a Sherman hospital.
Survivors for Mr. McDonald, Sr. are three sons, Joe and Jake McDonald, both of Sherman; and Hubert McDonald of Arlington; three daughters, Mrs. Raymond Cole of Sherman; Mrs. Lucie Renfro of Dallas; and Mrs. Hubert Stamper of Paris; 19 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were grandsons of Mr. McDonald, Sr.



Mrs. J.D. McDonald, 58, 925 W. Brockett, died at 1:45 a.m. Friday at the Wilson N. Jones Hospital after suffering a heart attack Thursday.
Funeral services were conducted at 2:30 p.m. Saturday from the residence.  Rev. M.L. Hamilton, minister of the Key Memorial Methodist church, officiated.  Interment was in West Hill Cemetery under the direction of the Talley Funeral Home.  The body remained at the residence until time of funeral services.
Mrs. McDonald was born December 4, 1879 in Grayson county.  She had been a resident of the county all her life.  Mrs. McDonald came to Sherman 15 years ago from Whitesboro.  She was a member of the Methodist church.
Surviving are her husband; four sons, Jake H., John D., Jr., Joe and Hubert McDonald, all of Sherman; four daughters,  Mrs. D.T. Renfro and Miss Katie McDonald of Dallas; and Miss Juanita and Miss Mary McDonald of Sherman; and 7 grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Dick Piner, Milton Belden, C.W. Anderson, Harry Hudgins, Arthur O'Mary, W.J. Morrison, George Smith and Taylor Cockburn.
