Isbell 23 October 1890 - 7 May 1985 Sherman Democrat October 20, 1959 pg. 2 Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon in Dannel Funeral Chapel for Horace G. Isbell, 70, of 216 N. Grand Ave., who died Tuesday at 6:30 a.m. in the Veterans Hospital, McKinney. He was a retired grain dealer. Rev. Ed Young, associate pastor of the First Baptist Church, conducted the services. Pallbearers were Paul Furche, Jim Furche, J.D. Canon, all of Fort Worth; Frank Furche of Justin, Rochelle Canon, James L. Douglas, Ewell Wainwright, W.G. Cantrell, all of Sherman. Burial was in West Hill Cemetery. Mr. Isbell was born July 18, 1889 in Seneca, South Carolina, a son of Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Isbell. On June 3, 1917, he married Miss Tinie Cantrell. He had lived in Texas since 1901. During World War I, Mr. Isbell served in the Navy. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. Survivors are his wife; one son, Grover Jim Isbell of Oklahoma City; two daughters, Mrs. Harold Burke Jr., of Oklahoma City and Mrs. R.T. Henry Jr., of Paris, France; two brothers, J.L. Isbell of Dallas and J.C. Isbell of Visalia, Calif.; four sisters, Mrs. F.C. Pritchard of Weatherford, Mrs. N.F. Lemmons and Miss Ella Isbell, both of Dallas, and Mrs. E.C. Parish of Houston. Sherman Democrat May 8, 1985 B-19 Graveside services for Mrs. Tinie G. Isbell of Fort Worth, former Sherman resident, who died Tuesday at Hearthstone Nursing Home in Fort Worth, will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in West Hill Cemetery. Dr. Thomas S. Brandon of the First Baptist Church will officiate and arrangements are by Harveson and Cole Funeral Home of Fort Worth. Mrs. Isbell was born in Grayson County, a daughter of James David Cantrell and Sarah Clementine Miller Cantrell, and was the widow of H.G. Isbell. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sherman. Surviving are her son, Grover Jim Isbell of Oklahoma City; daughters, Mrs. Harold Burke and Mrs. Frank Henry, both of Fort Worth; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The family will be at the funeral home from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Memorials may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
