March 5, 1907 NECROLOGICAL Captain P.L. Thornton Sherman, Texas, March 5 - Capt. Pleasant Lawson Thornton, an old and highly respected citizen of Sherman, died th is morning at 4 o'clock, after a long illness at his home, No. 1103 East Richards street. Capt. Thornton had been a resident of Sherman for more than 20 years and was always considered one of the stanch men of the city, always ready to do his part in whatever was calculated to upbuild his town or help his fellow man. At the time of his death he was 76 years of age, having been born in 1831 in Merriweather, Georgia. On April 5, 1853, he was married to Miss Harriet C. Vance of Cleveland, Tennessee. At the breaking out of the Civil War Capt. Thornton joined the army of the Confederacy, serving d uring the entire 4 years of that conflict. He is survived by his wife and 4 children, as follows: P.H. Thornton, Mrs. Fannie McFadden, Miss Alice Thornton and Walter V. Thornton. The funeral will be from the residence tomorrow morning at 10 o'clock and the services will be conducted by Rev. Robertson, pastor of the College Park Presbyterian Church, of which Capt.
