A message was received in Sherman Friday announcing the death at Wichita Falls of John N. Nicholas, a well known young carpenter of this city, who lived at No. 1611 Ross avenue.  Mr. Nicholas died at 12:30 o'clock Friday afternoon, following a short illness with pneumonia.  He had gone to Burkburnett about 3 weeks ago to work in the oil fields, became stricken with influenza and only succeeded in reaching Wichita Falls.  His sister, Mrs. Belle Ford of this city, was with him at the time of his death, having been called there several days ago.  Amos Mullenix and Jeff Steele, who left for Wichita Falls Friday morning, arrived after Mr. Nicholas passed away.
Mr. Nicholas made his home in Sherman with his mother, Mrs. S.E. Nicholas, and besides his mother, he is survived by 3 sisters, Mrs. Belle Ford and Mrs. Monroe Landers of Sherman and Mrs. Lee Scrivner of east of Sherman.  Two brothers, Pat and Buck Nicholas, died in the last 2 years.  Mr. Nicholas was about 33 years of age.
The funeral services for Mr. Nicholas will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the house of Mr. and Mrs. A.A. Mullenix at No. 1438 South Walnut street, followed by interment in West Hill Cemetery.
John C. Dannel, secretary of the Modern Woodmen Camp, requests all members to be present at his office on the south side of the square at 1:30 to attend the funeral.
