West Hill Cemetery Sherman, Texas John Grant 1856 - 1904
The Bonham News
Friday, June 17, 1904 The death of Dr. John Grant at Sherman will be cause for regret among a large number of friends throughout the state. Dr. Grant was prominent in Republican politics, and a man who always kept his promises. He was not always accorded the best treatment in the world by those with whom he was politically associated, but he bore like a man the snubs which the ambitious sought to put upon him, never striking back but one time and that was when the president of the United States asked for his resignation, charging him with irregularities. In that his honor was attacked, and like the man he was, he struck back at the chief executive, and in language which could not be misunderstood. Dr. John Grant was a good man, an honest man and a lovable fellow personally. He suffered much during life because of his goodness. - - - Ft. Worth Telegram The Sunday Gazetteer
