Joseph W. Wolfe 16 October 1934 - 5 January 2005
The Herald Democrat September 15, 2011 Arlene J. Wolfe, of Sherman, passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2011 at Texas Health Presbyterian-WNJ, at the age of 82. Mrs. Wolfe was born in Kansas City, Kansas on February 27, 1929, daughter of William A. Johnson and Edith Edna Summers Johnson. She attended Kansas City schools and the University of Kansas, where she was a cheerleader. She married Sam D. Wolfe, Jr. on February 25, 1951 in Kansas City. Arlene enjoyed many trips to Las Vegas, Nevada; Bossier City, Louisiana; and the getaway home in Santa Fe, New Mexico with husband, Sam. Arlene also enjoyed golf and bridge with her many friends. In her later years she spent much time caring for her ill parents and husband prior to their deaths. In 1952 Mr. and Mrs. Wolfe became partners of Scheurer Bros. Hardware Co. on South Travis in Sherman. In 1957 the Wolfes opened the well known store, The Gift House, in Sherman. Mrs. Wolfe is survived by son, Sam D. Wolfe, III and wife, Felisa, of Whitesboro; grandchildren, Josephine Thomas and husband, Toby, of Denton; Ben Wolfe and Leighann Wolfe of Whitesboro; great-grandson, Ethan Thomas of Denton; and niece, Alisa Campbell and family of Olathe, Kansas. Graveside services were held at West Hill Cemetery Friday morning, September 16, 2011 with Mike Bentley of North Union Street Church of Christ of Whitesboro, Texas.
