Thursday, September 30, 1937 GARLAND CLUB LEADER AND RELIGIOUS WORK EXPIRES IN McKINNEY Special to the News Garland, Texas, September 29 - Funeral services for Mrs. Charles Locke, 40, of Garland, native Texan who died at the home of her sister, Mrs. George Hughes, of McKinney Wednesday morning, were held at the First Christian Church in Sherman at 3 p.m. Thursday, with interment in West Hill Cemetery. Rev. E.W. Martin of Sulphur Springs officiated. Mrs. Locked served as one of the first presidents of the local Parent-Teacher Association and was active in civic and religious affairs. She was born January 17, 1888 in the Cedar Community near Sherman, the daughter of J.H. and Christiana Middleton. She was married to Charles Locke March 20, 1906, who died January 1, 1926. Surviving are one son, Roy Locke of Plainview; and one daughter, Miss Allene Locke, Garland; three sisters, Mrs. Hughes, McKinney; Mrs. Harry Barrett and Miss Bessie Middleton of Sherman; and two brothers, Walter C.
