West Hill Cemetery Sherman, Texas Margaret Emma "Maggie" Nowlin 1859 (Maury Co., TN) - 17 February 1901 (Sherman, TX) SAD DEATH of Mrs. M.E. Knowlin Yesterday - A Double Burial
Yesterday afternoon at her home on North Maxey Street, Mrs. Maggie Emma Knowlin, wife of Dr. J.E. Knowlin, died. A little infant, born the day before, had already preceded her and even as the mother breathed her last, rested in a tiny casket in the adjoining room. It was a sad scene, mother and her little one both dead, and a grief-stricken family about their silent forms. The double burial was at West Hill this morning. Mrs. Knowlin's maiden name was Maggie Emma Turnbow. She was a native of Murray County, Tennessee, and in her forty-second year. In 1870 she was married to Dr.Knowlin. Eleven children have been born to them, of whom six are living to mourn the loss of a devoted Christian mother. At a very tender age the deceased was converted and became a communicant of the Methodist-Episcopal Church South and had been a consistant Christian ever since. The burial services at the home and the grave were conducted in accordance with the ritual of the church and officiated at by the Rev. Mr. James Davis of the Willow Street parish. The family came to Sherman only a few months since from Weatherford but have won their way into the esteem of their new friends and neighbors, whose heartfelt sympathy they have in their hour of loss. Mrs. Marks of Weatherford, a sister, and Mr. James Turnbow of Denison, a brother, are here.
