Infant Johnson 7 April 1932 infant of Cecil B. Johnson & Maurine Lupher Herald Democrat September 13, 2005 Sue Maurine Gant, Emerald Bay, Bullard, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2005 at the age of 96. She was born in Grayson County on a farm near Howe, Texas to Gus and Bettie Lupher on November 16, 1908. She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, her first husband, Cecil B. Johnson; her second husband, Ernest H. Gant; and brother, James Lupher. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Bettie and Lee Johns, Emerald Bay; granddaughters and grandsons-in-law, Pamela and Ted Unumb, Murrieta, Calif.; Kristen and Richard Kitterman, Cypress, and a brother, Ed Lupher, San Antonio, Texas. Maurine attended grade schools in Tom Bean and Howe and high school and college at Kidd-Key, a girl's conservatory for music in Sherman. It was there she obtained her talent for the piano and became an accomplished pianist. She was also an accomplished artist in oils and china painting. She was a member and past president of the Culture Club, Tom Bean, and a member of the Garden Club of Sherman. She was also a member of several bridge clubs in Sherman, Tom Bean, and Emerald Bay. She was a member of Singles Club at Emerald Bay and a member of the Emerald Bay Community Church. Most of the community in Emerald Bay easily recognized her wearing her baseball cap while driving the "love of her life," Andy her white poodle, around the area in her golf cart. Memorial services will be held at the Emerald Bay Community Church on September 13, 2005 at 2:30 p.m. while internment will be at West Hill Cemetery, Sherman, on September 14, 2005 at 11 a.m. under the direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home in Tyler. The family wishes to thank Dr. Gary Babbitt, Hospice RN Sandy Steele, Hospice Aide, Coylene Hinton, all of the Home Place staff and Care Givers, Debra Gill, Myra Jernigan, and Bernedeth Bryant for their outstanding care and love shown to Maurine. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of East Texas, 411 University Blvd., Tyler or Emerald Bay Community Church, Bullard.
