George F. Lindsay Jr., brother of the late B. J. Lindsay of Denison and
member of a prominent Grayson county family, died Sunday morning at
8:05 o'clock at his home in Amarillo. Death came suddenly for the
Amarillo business man although he had been in failing health several
months, even before the death of his brother here early this year. He
spent several weeks in hospitals at Temple and Dallas before being
returned home some time ago. The body was taken to Sherman,
his birthplace, for burial, and funeral services were held Tuesday
afternoon at 3:30 o'clock at the Dannel-Scott funeral home in Sherman,
with Rev. Roy H. Biser, Central Christian church pastor, officiating.
Burial was in West Hill Cemetery with the Masonic lodge conducting
services at the grave. The son of the late George F. and

grandfather, Francis H Lindsay, who conducted one of the first schools
in Sherman, the Letellier School for Boys. He completed his schooling
at Mahan's Business College in that city.

in Sherman. Mr. Lindsay later was timekeeper for the Frisco railroad
and accountant for the Sherman Steam Laundry. He went to Amarillo 27
years ago to become manager of the Panhandle Steam Laundry of which he
subsequently became a co-owner.
Mr. Lindsay was a thirty-second degree Mason, a Shriner, and a
Rotarian, holding the rare record of never missing a Rotary luncheon
until ill health besieged him. As a philanthropist, he aided many
worthy causes and was the benefactor of the Amarillo High School,
particularly the football team, being known as "Uncle George" among the
students. Surviving are six sisters, Mrs.
Dick Taylor, Mrs. Luetta Smith, and Mrs. John Hendon, Sherman; Mrs.
