Friday, March 29, 1918 pg. 5 DESPONDENT SCHOOL GIRL ENDED LIFE Sherman, Texas, March 22 - Miss Corine Savage, the 17-year-old high school girl who was found in an unconscious condition in the basement of the Central High School building yesterday afternoon, died at St. Vincent's sanitarium this morning at 5 o'clock from carbolic acid poisoning, which, it developed, she took with the intention of killing herself. The tragedy has cast a pall of gloom over the entire school, where the young lady was a splendid student and a favorite with all with whom she came in daily contact. Miss Savage was the daughter of Ham Savage, formerly of this city, but now living at Corsicana. She had remained in Sherman to complete her education, and made her home with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Savage, 1436 East Cherry Street. Following is a copy of a note written by Miss Savage, addressed to her English teacher, Miss May Fenet, of the Central High School faculty: "Dear Miss Fenet: "My love for you is greater than I can bear, since it is carrying me down to my grave. I write this little note to tell you good bye, and ask you to forgive me for not using correct English every time I talked to you. I wish you a long and happy life, filled with every pleasure that this earth can afford. Lovingly, Corine Savage." Sherman Daily Democrat Monday, April 3, 1911 pg. 7 MRS.
