October 19, 1918 INFLUENZA EPIDEMIC (Special to The News) Sherman, Texas, Oct. 18 - There was a decrease in the number of influenza cases here in the last 24 hours, although there were several deaths from influenza and pneumonia. Among the deaths are: Mrs. Ada B. Martin, 30 years of age, wife of M.W. Martin, of Durant, Oklahoma, who died here Thursday night; Louis Shelton, 25 years of age, who died at 1 o'clock this afternoon, survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. M.L. Shelfton, his wife and a small son; Dr. H.C. Worley, a retired physician, 63 years of age and single, who died at 6 o'clock this morning' Mrs. Mary E. Matthews, widow of the late Benjamin R. Matthews, who died at 7 o'clock Thursday evening; John W . McGinness, 45 years of age, restaurant proprietor, single who died shortly after midnight this morning Rolfe G. Bowman, aged 39, manager of the Central Cafe, who died at noon today, leaving a wife and 2 sons, his parents and 3 brothers.
