 West Hill Cemetery Sherman, Texas  Bernita Scruggs was born October 2, 1945 in Sherman, Texas, daughter of Willie and Joanna Lowell. Bernita attended Fred Douglas High School and achieved a General Educational Degree. She was married to Goodson Scruggs and was a devoted mother to her 3 children. Bernita worked in the community for over 25 years as a certified nursing assistant. She was dedicated to her work at Harmony Baptist Church and was the director of the food bank. Bernita is survived by her children: Kelvin, Cynthia and Marlon Scruggs; daughters-in-law, Cheryl Scruggs and Susan Scruggs; siblings, Robert Lowell, Cecila Boyd, Gary Lowell and Terry Tate; grandchildren, Marcus Scruggs, Blake Harris, Caryla Anderson and Ethan Scruggs and a niece. Bernita Lowell Scruggs, 77, of Sherman ascended to her eternal home Monday, April 10, 2023 at Texoma Medical Center. The funeral service was held Saturday morning, April 15, 2023 at Harmony Baptist Church, Sherman. Rev. Clifton Eaton officiated. Burial followed at West Hill Cemetery.
