A FARMER'S DEATH
Was Trampled and Gored to Death by a Bull

Sherman, Texas, September 7 -  Sam Owens, a prominent farmer living 3 miles north of this city, met a horrible death last night.
About 10 o'clock he noticed an unusual disturbance in his barn and went out to investigate.  His wife becoming uneasy at his continued absence went to the lot and was horror stricken to see her husband with his clothing all torn from him and his fearfully mutilated body lying beneath the feet of a maddened Jersey bull.
She went at once to his rescue and succeeded in dragging the body of her dead husband to the fence, but before she could clear the fence, the ferocious brute charged on her and recovered his victim.  She made a second and successful attempt.
At  the loss of his victim the animal set up a frightful bellowing that aroused neighbors for a distance of 2 miles.
The physician who dressed the body of deceased found the right shoulder literally torn from its moorings, the collar bones broken, both jaws shattered, the left side caved in and the entire body lacerated.
