 West Hill Cemetery Sherman, Texas  Denison - Funeral services for Richard "Dick" Travis, 84, were held Friday morning, November 17, 2015 at Waldo Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Joe Ed Goolsby officiating. Interment was held Monday afternoon, November 30, 2015 at West Hill Cemetery with Alvin Travis, Jeff Travis, Tyler Boss, Roger McKinney, Jesus Rivas, Kerry Tiner, David Escamillia and Taylor Kepley serving as pallbearers. Dick was born on Thursday, February 26, 1931 in Sherman, Texas, son of Dewey South and Ethelma Tackett Travis and passed from this life on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at Crawford St. Place in Denison, Texas. He grew up in Sherman and graduated from Sherman High School in 1948. After high school, he worked as a carpenter for the Safeway Grocery chain until he became a store manager and later as an insurance sales representative for Employers Insurance of Texas for 27 years, before retiring in 1990. Dick married the love of his life, Bobbie Bilger, on July 22, 1950 in Sherman. He and Bobbie were members of First Methodist Church in Sherman. Richard was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers - D.S. and Albert Travis. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Bobbie, of Sherman; sons, Al Travis and wife, Winona, of Anna, Texas; and Bob Travis and wife, Teri, of Bryan, Texas; daughter, Becca Boss and husband, Bill, of Denison, Texas; grandchildren: Alvin Travis, Emily Tiner, Joyce Sample, Jeff Travis, Deana Westall, Bobbie Rivas, Tyler Boss, Brian Boss, Billy Boss and Jeff Boss; 11 great-grandchildren; and sister, Nellie Ann Williams of North Richland Hills, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
