 West Hill Cemetery Sherman, Texas   Arthur M. Payne was born in Denison, Texas on April 3, 1947, son of Lee and Ann Payne and died at Texoma Medical Center on June 23, 2022 from complications of lymphoma. A 1965 graduate of Denison High School, Art went to work for Texas Instruments in Dallas. He left to enter the United States Army in 1970, and upon his completion of service in 1972, he returned to Texas Instruments in Sherman. It was at Texas Instruments that Art met Martha Sprowl, and they married in November 1973. He completed his associates degree from Grayson College, continued his education at night, and completed his Bachelor's degree from East Texas State University. Art enjoyed painting, reading, fishing, and country/western dance. He and Martha taught dance classes at Grayson College, Southeastern Oklahoma State University, and various clubs for several years. Left behind are Art's wife, Dr. Martha Payne; brother, Mike and wife, Juli; sister, Linda Robertson; sister, Lisa Powers and husband Jerry; sister, Dana Cassell and husband, Cecil; sister, Ellen Payne; brother, Mark and wife, Vannessa; and brother, Gary and wife, Shannon. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. Art will rest at West Hill Cemetery with the Sprowl family.
