Friday, July 9, 1920 MRS. M.S. HUDSON, A PROMINENT SOCIAL WORKER HERE, IS DEAD Mrs. Clara Virginia Hudson, wife of Dr. M.S. Hudson of this city, died Friday morning at 4:30 o'clock, following a long illness. Although news of Mrs. Hudson's death comes as a distinct shock to friends and intimate acquaintances in all parts of the city and out of the city, it was known for the past few days that she had but little hope of recovery. She underwent the last of a series of operations last Monday and almost from that time her life was despaired of. Funeral services will take place Saturday afternoon at 4 o'clock from the First Baptist Church, followed by burial in West Hill Cemetery. The services will be conducted by Dr. F.F. Brown, pastor. Mrs. Hudson was 59 years of age. Besides her husband, a well known dentist of Sherman, she is survived by a daughter, Miss Frances Hudson of Sherman; a son, Charles Hudson of Little Rock, Arkansas; her mother, Mrs. H.F. Lauman of Chickasha, Oklahoma; a brother, Dr. T.B. Lauman of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and 3 sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Doors of Marietta, Georgia; Mrs. Olivia Barber of Kasota, Minnesota; and Mrs. Flora Youatt of Chickasha, Oklahoma. A woman whose life interests extended beyond her own immediate self and family, Mrs. Hudson had long been identified with all of the leading movements, especially on the part of women, for the civic and social betterment of Sherman and of the State. She was especially active in the work of the Women's Christian Temperance Union here, but has given her energy and ability to other movements looking to the civic welfare and progress of those about her. Her death is a loss not only to her family, but to the entire community of persons in which she moved. The Democrat joins in extending its si ncerest sympathy to the bereaved family. The pall bearers will be J.H. Durning, Fred Hannah, Vic Abrams, M.A. Perkins, J.M. Gillespie and Dr. W.B. Loving.
