West Hill Cemetery Sherman, Texas Bobby Earl Thompson 3 December 1929 - 6 February 2014 PFC U.S. Army Korea The Herald Democrat February 9-10, 2014 Sherman - Bobby Earl Thomas was born on December 3, 1929 in Sherman, Texas, son of Earl Thompson and Amanda Crowell Thompson. He died Thursday, February 6, 2014. He was a Baptist and a member of Fairview Baptist Church. He served 14 years in the United States Army Reserves. Bobby worked for Texas Laundry Service, Hales Trailer, Olsen Body Shop, and Hitchcock Industries where he retired. He became a self-employed toy maker. He had his own radio show on KRRV from 1947-1954 and his own TV show on KXII in the 1960s. Bobby was a talented steel guitar player. He was the founder of the original Texoma Palyboys country band, played steel for Chuck Willis & the Nighthawk Band (formerly The Misfits) for many years. Bobby is survived by his children: sons, Robert Thompson and wife, Tracey; Roger Thompson and wife, D'Awn; daughter Rhonda Jackson Valle and husband, Juan, all of Sherman Services for Bobby Earl were held Tuesday afternoon, February 11, 2014 at Dannel Funeral Home and interment was at West Hill Cemetery in the Veterans section.
