W. Scruggs was born May 29, 1931 in Marlin, Texas. Early in his
life Lucian attended Texas public schools. As a young man, he
chose to serve his country by enlisting with the United States Army and
after his dedicated service, he received an honorable discharge on
September 3, 1954. He met and married his sweetheart, Nettie Williams. While living in Sherman, Lucian was employed with the Burlington Northern Railroad, thus working long hours to provide for his family. Being obedient to our Lord and Savior, Lucian united with the Parkview Church of Christ and remained a member until God called him home early Monday morning, January 29, 2018 in the Wilson N. Jones Medical Center, Sherman, Texas. He leaves to cherish his memory, wife, Nettie Scruggs, of Sherman; children, Lucian Scruggs, Jr.; David Scruggs; Dwayne Nelson; Patricia Rosser; Cheryl Wilbert; and Paula Andrews, all of Sherman; sisters, Katherine Winchester; Mildred Wilson; and Linda Southern, all of Sherman; 25 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews and many friends. Funeral services were held Saturday morning, February 3, 2018 in Parkview Church of Christ, Sherman, with Bro. Welton Stoker officiating.
