West Hill Cemetery Sherman, Texas The McKinney Examiner Thursday, November 26, 1936 pg. 6 CELINA The condition of Mrs. J.A. Riddle is very grave. She has been ill since she suffered a paralytic stroke about 2 years ago and her condition has grown worse during the last few days. Her children, Mrs. Otis White of Cuero, Mrs. Eugene F. Dozier of Houston, Mrs. D.B. Blaine, Joe Riddle, and Miss Walker Riddle of Dallas were summoned to her bedside. FORMER CELINA CITIZEN PASSED AWAY IN DALLAS J.A. Riddle, former Celina farmer and merchant, passed away October 2, at 3:30 p.m. at the home of his daughter, Mrs. D.B. Blaine, 638 N. King Blvd., Dallas, Texas. Mr. Riddle was a citizen of Celina until the death of his wife in 1936. Joseph A. Riddle was born April 1, 1857 at Fairmount, Georgia. He was the son of James W. Riddle and Matilda Franklin Riddle. He was married to Minerva Ann Walker of Walesha, Georgia, and, with his bride, settled in Sherman, Texas in 1882. In 1907 he moved to Celina and lived here until 1936 when he went to Dallas to make his home. He was a member of the Celina Methodist Church and was devoted to his family and friends and always served the best interests of the community in which he lived. He is survived by 4 daughters, Mrs. D.H. Blaine, Dallas; Mrs. R.O. White, Cuero, Texas; Mrs. E.F. Dozier, Ft. Worth; Miss Walker Riddle, teacher in the public schools; and one son, Joe A. Riddle, Jr. of Dallas; 7 grandchildren and twin sisters, Mrs. Alma Spears of Amarillo and Mrs. R.W. Cornelius of Brownwood. The funeral will be held Friday morning, October 4, at the First Methodist Church in Celina by Rev. Wesley V. Hite and Rev. J.L. Cleveland with interment beside his wife in West Hill Cemetery, Sherman with Helms Funeral Home in charge. Pallbearers will be Jim Glendenning, George Jenkins, M.A. Cornelius, Joe Roberts, and Lee Thurman.
