West Hill Cemetery Sherman, Texas At approximately 6:30 p.m. on April 14, 2016 Royal Lee Talley passed away of natural causes at the age of 101. Lee is survived by his wife, Virgie; many nephews and nieces, great and great-great descendants. Preceding him in death are his mother and father, Lillian and Walter; his brothers and sisters, Walter, Edith, Ethel, Guy and Arthur; his niece and nephews, Annette, Randy, and Freddy; his stepson Darryl. Royal Lee was born in Sherman. He was a lifelong resident, graduating from Sherman High School as top male academic student. In his early 20s he served as a WWII combat veteran primarily in North Africa and Italy, including the Battle of Anzio. He was a radioman with first wave response. After serving his country in the military, he worked as an electronics technician in the local television industry and as a Hydrogen cryogenic gas plant builder, sand operator for Sherman's Anderson Clayton food industry for 55 years, that included serving as union president. Lee was known as a very independent, highly intelligent, witty and kind man. His hobbies included golfing in his bachelor years and physical conditioning by his commitment to running most of his life. He also stayed active into his late years with his wife, Virgie, by dancing on a regular basis at the local VFW and American Legion. Lee serves as an example of a man who lived an abundant life in years, experiencing health free of disease and the enjoyment of his strong commitment to his wife. Lee was blessed in life with intelligence, solid health, and an enjoyable marriage.
