West Hill Cemetery Sherman, Texas Shirley Walton-Ennis was born May 30, 1935 in Spring Hope, North Carolina, daughter of Willis Cooper and Annie Bell Jeffryes-Cooper and siblings, Johnnie D. Cooper, Marie Cooper, and Herman B Cooper, all deceased. She graduated from Spring Hope North Carolina where her childhood friend, Mag Coleman, still resides. She proudly served in the United States Army where she met and married James Ennis in 1957. Children from this marriage include daughters, Bonnie Trapp and husband, Robert, of Sherman, Texas; Connie Mears of Ladonia, Texas; Jamie Evans and husband, Bobby, of Antlers, Oklahoma; and grandchildren, Danielle Davis and Craig Mears. She has 4 nieces, Peggy Hayes of South Carolina; Rita Donner, Beth Cooper and Kim Reynolds; nephew is George Cooper, all reside in North Carolina; grandniece, Amy Achurch of South Carolina. The love of her life was the second marriage to J.D. Walton in 1981. Her family expanded to include daughters, Angela DeForrest of Pasadena, California; and Catherine Eppler and husband, Mike, of Denison, Texas; 4 grandchildren, Clayton Eppler, Matthew Eppler, Natalie DeForrest and Lauren Aleman. Her beloved sister-in-law is Thelma Walton who resides in Denison, Texas. She died Sunday, August 4, 2019. She was preceded in death by both husbands. She began her professional career in 1960 at Johnson & Johnson Medical in Sherman, Texas. Then supervisor, Bob Cathy, hired her as an employe who worked 33 years and retired from the Accounts Payable Department. There she met and maintained friendships still very much enjoyed today. She was a devoted Christian and shared her faith with others joyfully; she joined the First Baptist Church in Denison, Texas in 1996. She was involved in the senior Sunday School class which brought her much joy and comfort. Her family. friends, and relatives brought her much joy! She lived through them and with them along what was sometimes a difficult journey. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife and fierce mother who would move heaven and earth for her family. Graveside services were held Friday afternoon, August 9, 2019 at West Hill Cemetery with Matthew Eppler officiating.
